YES! Working from home can be easy and profitable. There are many advantages, like more time with your family, and no commuting to and from work. In today's busy world, many people are looking for extra income, and part time job from home is one solution. Others are looking for a full time role but want time to be around their family and partner.

Finding a Work From Home Business

The first step is finding a work from home business. There are thousands of possibilities, and it can be difficult to find what you're looking for. It's even harder if you don't yet know what to look for in the first place.

OK, so you want to work from home. Decision time. What type of business do you want to work for?

• Are you looking for a traditional business where you swap your time for money, but work from home?
• Are you looking for a direct sales business where you market someone else's product or service from home?
• Are you looking for a network marketing business where you market someone else's product or service from home, and are paid commissions on those sales on a once-off or recurring basis?
• Are you looking for a second or third ongoing source of income, often called Residual Income, where you might spend two to five years building a business, get paid commissions along the way, and keep earning commissions later whether you choose to work it or go on holiday for 6 months and not touch it again?

Once you've established what sort of business you're looking for, you can start to look at businesses in that category.

• Health and Wellness companies offer vitamins, cosmetics, health products, and related services, where the focus is on wellness and health care.
• Services companies offer household and business services, from internet access to telecommunications to office tasks such as typing and proofreading.
• Some opportunities will offer a specific product or service, such as travel, or insurance, or legal services, or a niche product.

Next, once you have found a category you are interested in, you can target your search for companies within that category and find one that you are comfortable with.

When finding a company, you will want to make sure that the company you choose has the following attributes as a minimum service level:

1. Financially Stable - they have the financial backing and operating history to be in business for yearss to come
   
2. Strong and Coherant Management - they must be going in the right direction, and have quality leadership
   
3. Independence - they must be independent, and not restricted by shareholders, majority owners with an agenda, or other such limiting factors
   
4. Product - a quality product or service that you and your customers will want to buy over and over again. A one-off purchase will not build a business, you will constantly be looking for customers. You want a product or service that has value, and generates repeat purchases by the same customers over and over.
   
5. Pay Plan - a realistic and achievable pay plan with rewards at the entry level, and onwards as you grow through the ranks. You want to be paid on all the work you do from the start.
   
6. A Category Creator or Product Leader - the company must be the inventor of the product or service, or be a leader in selling the product or service. The companies that make the most money for themselves and their resellers are the ones that invented the idea or took the lead in promoting the idea. This is why Coca Cola will always outsell Pepsi and LA ICE cola. They are the one with the largest brand recognition and acceptance.
   
7. Strong Leaders on the Ground - real people who are already successful in the business, who you can talk to, learn from, and utilise their experience.
   
8. The System - this is just as important as everything else. Systems are duplicable. People are not. A new person entering the business can use the same system as a successful person and get the same end results. This helps you make money more quickly, and of course as you learn about the company, product or service, and pay plan, you will be better at using the system.
   
9. Internet Based - these days, the internet can do so much in the way of marketing, communication, and group contact. Filling out forms and faxing them to join or order or re-order is no longer the way to go. You want an online automated business. Everyone has internet and email these days anyway. If a company expects you to chase people to fill in forms to take orders or memberships, they are out of date already.

Do Your Own Research

Hey, it's your money. Do your own research, find the company that is best for you, and go for it.  You have respect. You don't want to tarnish that by being affiliated with some sketchy company. Find a quality company that meets the above criteria at a bare minimum, and you're on the right track.
